Doodle Pouches

I have been wanting to incorporate my artwork into my sewing for a while now.  I tried having my designs printed onto fabric and I tried some iron-ons as well.  but neither of them satisfied how I envisioned my product to be.  So I bought myself a set of Sharpie Pens from Sam's Club and began my process.  Here it is...
I started off with some sketches and drew over them with a black pen so that I can see the drawing through my Light Tracer.

Getting ready to trace my design onto the fabric.

Almost there...

Once I am finished tracing the design with a permanent ink pen it is ready to be sewn together for the finished product!

If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to leave me a comment.  Thank you!

Knitting? Yeah, Knitting!

A few years ago I tried to take up the knitting craft but never finished any projects since I was so impatient in reading more of the instructions.  A couple of months ago, while on a short family trip with my family, I decided to try it again.  This time I was determined.  I bought myself a few different sizes of needles (the pretty bamboo kind) and some beautiful, chunky yarn.  I played around a little with some different types of patterns and found one that I liked.
I never thought I would say that knitting was actually fun and relaxing and you get a pretty product out of it too!
I have chosen my five favorite colors in this beautiful yarn.
(black, fisherman, lemongrass, cranberry, and pumpkin)

So chunky, so warm, pretty texture, and most of all, so comfy.

Summer Lovin'

Since living up in the Arctic can get pretty dark and cold during the winter I have to look back at our summer pictures to warm up a little and let some sunshine in.  Here are just a few of the fun summer activities that I am looking forward to this year:

Going to the beach with my children...

Fun bonfires with my family...
(That crazy guy you see standing on the bonfire is my brother and the surprised kid in the corner is my silly cousin whom we love having around, I think we're going to steal him someday)

Picking pretty flowers...

Being surprised by foxes...

... and making our community dumpsters look pretty.

An Awesome Book!

The Boss of You -  that's right!  Everything A Woman Needs to Know to Start, Run, and Maintain Her Own Business.  This book is so inspiring and encouraging.  It caught my eye in an instant and I had to buy it!  It gave me a new perspective on how I should run my business.  This isn't like those boring, overwhelming business plans that you dread completing.  I was actually excited about answering all the business planning questions because it dives deep into the characteristics of your business.  One subject that I really like is defining your business 'personality'.  Right from the get-go in Chapter 1 I was already beginning my business plan with enthusiasm and confidence.
If you're interested in starting your own business this book is the one to get!  It has plenty of encouragement, energy, real-life business scenarios, and information to help you succeed in starting the business you have always wanted.

Happy New Year!

New Year's Resolution - Starting fresh in all areas of my life. Spiritual well-being, family, health, business, a new blog and the list goes on... I have had so many set backs, twists and turns last year as well as some inspiring changes that gave me and my husband a new perspective on all areas of our lives.

My husband and I are setting some "realistic" goals this year rather than some huge goals that we end up giving up on or being disappointed because things didn't happen last year like we wanted them to. We have learned to take "baby steps" and grow fully in the things that we plan on accomplishing. That doesn't only include our businesses and finances, but for our family as well. We're planning on taking more family trips this year and also create more time to relax and enjoy the freshness of camping, fishing, the great outdoors, etc... Rather than spending just a weekend out at camp we want to extend our stays for weeks at a time. How awesome that will be!

Seek first the Kingdom of God and all things will be added unto you. Jesus makes all things new! "Good bye" 2009 and "Hello" 2010! I am so excited for the things to come!
